A full mouth reconstruction is one of the most extensive and comprehensive dental treatment plans.

Focused on improving both the function and beauty of your smile, a full mouth reconstruction, also known as a full mouth restoration, uses a combination of different dental procedures in order to achieve the desired result.

In some cases, a variety of dental professionals will need to be involved in your treatment program. These could include an endodontist, an oral surgeon, an orthodontist, and a periodontist, in addition to your regular professional dentist.

Full mouth reconstructions involve replacing or reconstructing all of the teeth in both the upper and lower jaw. The extensive nature of the treatment means that the entire process can take a number of months. This also allows time for your mouth and teeth to heal between each of the restorative treatments.

Why do I need a full mouth reconstruction?

A full mouth reconstruction is a complex treatment process, and not one that we will recommend lightly. If a full mouth reconstruction is suggested, it is normally for one of the following reasons:

  • The patient has lost a large number of teeth due to trauma or decay.

  • The patient has many teeth that are damaged, normally due to an accident.

  • The patient has teeth that are badly eroded. Bruxism or acid reflux are usually to blame in these instances.

  • The patient has problems with their bite, resulting in ear, head, jaw and neck pain.

Full mouth reconstructions are suggested on a patient by patient basis. At Vero Dental Spa, we will require a consultation appointment, before making a recommendation for full mouth reconstructions.

It is then necessary to decide together which procedures are needed to resolve the oral health issues that you have, and restore your teeth so that you can regain full function of your mouth.

What dental procedures may be offered to me in a full mouth reconstruction?

Full mouth reconstructions can involve a combination of any of the dental procedures listed below.

  • All preparation work for the procedures to be carried out. This could include root canal treatment, extractions and more.

  • Reconstructive treatments including dental bridges, crowns, veneers and dental bonding.

  • Dental implants, which replace missing teeth.

  • Bone/soft tissue grafting to support reconstructive work, in particular, dental implants.

  • Crown lengthening.

  • Contouring of the gums to create a less “gummy” smile.

  • Periodontal services, including deep pocket cleaning.

  • Orthodontic treatments such as conventional braces or Invisalign.

  • Professional teeth cleaning.

Thanks to innovations in modern dentistry, patients no longer have to live with the inconvenience and unsightliness of advanced dental problems.
